My name is Andrew Craig, and the OSFA all started with 4 local Ottawa food processors getting together once a month to casually talk about the specialty food industry here in Ottawa. We’d discuss trade shows, festivals and events; what was good, what was bad, and what individuals were considering for this year’s events along with how to market and deliver our wares outside of Ottawa, get better pricing from suppliers for ingredients and co-packing, and still meet all the government regulations. The whole idea is to grow the food processor sector of Greater Ottawa so we all benefit from great food and a stronger local economy.
Everyone is welcome to become a member of the OSFA that has an interest in furthering the food products that are either grown, produced and packaged by an Ottawa based company (within 100kms from the City limits). Members are the actual specialty food processors and associate members are the people all related to the process from farmers, bottlers, retailers, restaurateurs to the writers and bloggers covering the scene. Other companies just starting out are experiencing the same things. I have always had help from great people like Janet Campbell of Mrs. McGarrigles and the OSFA is a local not for profit set up to help grow our sector.
